You may email me a photo of something fun your child did over the break. For example, seeing family, opening presents, playing with a new toy, etc.. Then your child can show it to all their friends on the big screen.
Please send a water bottle, coat, and extra change of clothes everyday.
We will be learning about monkeys this week.
There are currently 264 known monkey species.
Monkeys can be divided into two groups,
Old World monkeys that live in Africa and Asia, and New World monkeys that live in South and Central America.
Most monkeys have tails.
Mandrills are the world’s largest monkeys and Pygmy Marmosets are the world's smallest monkeys.
Our letter is "M '' and our song is "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed".
Please ask your child the following questions.
Where do monkeys live?
What do monkeys eat?
What is a group of monkeys called? (troop)
What class are monkeys in? (mammals)
Which monkey is your favorite?
Who studies monkeys? (primatologist)
Where is the equator located?
Would you like to be a monkey for a day?
We will also be learning about other “M” animals like manatees, manta rays, and meerkats.
We will be reading fun books and singing silly songs about “M” for monsters
We will also be making and talking about maps.
Please show your child a map and help them with the following questions.
What is our planet?
On which continent do we live?
In which state do we live?
In which city do we live?
Can you find Africa on the map?
Can you find Australia on the map?
Can you find Antarctica on the map?
Can you find South America on the map?
Can you find Asia on the map?
Can you find Europe on the map?
What is all the blue on the map?
Ask your child to tell you the definition of our vocabulary words.
